In a home not far from the summit of Highgate Hill, there’s a microdistillery.

It’s the brainchild of ex-City trader Ian Hart.

He’d been experimenting with reduced pressure distillation.

One fateful day, he found himself working towards a formula for gin.

In the early days, Ian tried that gin out on fellow drinkers at his local pub.

Now, the orders are coming in from around the world.

Sacred gin is rightly renowned for its super fresh botanicals and lush, creamy style.

For starters, it includes twelve organically sourced botanicals.

And Ian macerates and distills each of those botanicals separately before getting busy with blending.

One of the botanicals is none other than Boswellia sacra.

It’s a special type of frankincense that gives Sacred one of its key notes, as well as its name.

That name is one you hear asked for in bars and restaurants that like to give their guests something a little different.

It’s not just gin that Ian is crafting so meticulously.

These days, he distills over 1,000 bottles of gin, vodka and vermouth each month, still at his home.
